He was an expert in payment systems and gTLD domains, and also an active advocate for technologies such as DNS, DNSSEC, and IPv6. Rubens played a leading role in the Network Engineering and Operations Working Group (GTER), curating its program and presentations for many years. Beyond his strong presence in national networks, he was also widely recognized internationally, contributing to numerous technical cooperation networks and participating in various activities within the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). His contributions included serving on the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council.

Since 2014, Rubens had also served as an instructor at the Brazilian School of Internet Governance (EGI), one of CGI.br’s main capacity-building programs, where he generously shared his knowledge and experience with new generations of Internet professionals.

Rubens was 55 and is survived by his wife and two children.

The wake will be held on Tuesday morning (November 4) at the Jardim da Colina Cemetery in São Bernardo do Campo, with the burial taking place in the afternoon.

Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues. We are profoundly saddened by this loss.
